Education points

One point is roughly one hour of instruction. The bookkeeping is where people come unstuck.

What earns points

| Activity | Points | |—|—| | Institute week at Fairholm State (July) | 12 | | Annual conference, full attendance | 8 | | Conference, single day | 3 | | Recorders’ Day at the League fall meeting | 3 | | CAMRO webinar, 90 minutes | 1.5 | | District meeting with a training segment | 1 | | Approved external course (IIMC, ARMA, state archives) | As certified, up to 10/year | | Serving on a CAMRO committee, per year | 2, maximum 6 lifetime | | Presenting a conference session | 3 per session, first delivery only | | Publishing in the CAMRO newsletter | 1, maximum 3 lifetime |

What does not earn points

Vendor product training. Software demonstrations, including at the conference expo. Attending a council meeting. Reading the retention schedule, however strongly it feels like it should count.

Logging them

CAMRO-run activities are logged automatically from the attendance list, usually within ten business days. External courses are your responsibility and must be claimed with a certificate of completion.

The deadline is 31 January for the preceding calendar year. Claims for earlier years are not accepted, and the Education Committee has declined to create an exception process, having had one until 2021 and found that everyone used it.

Check your balance any time in the member area.

If you are close

Members within 6 points of the CCRO at the start of a year are emailed in February with a route to finish by December. If you did not get that email and think you should have, the balance is usually the answer — but tell the office anyway, because occasionally it is a missing external claim.
