Legislative Breakfast and Capitol Day 2027

Breakfast with the members of the Local Government Committee, then a morning at the Capitol while the session is live. Worth 2 education points.

2027’s agenda is dominated by HB 1149, which would bring text messages and disappearing-message applications explicitly under the Public Records Act and the retention schedule. CAMRO supports the clarity and has been clear with the committee about what implementation costs a municipality with one full-time employee.

The morning

• 7:30 am — Breakfast, Rotunda. Committee members attend from 8:00.
• 8:45 am — Briefing: what is moving this session, and what our position is
• 9:30 am — Committee Room B. HB 1149 is scheduled for testimony.
• 11:30 am — Office visits. Members are paired by district with their own representative, which is the part that actually works.
• 1:00 pm — Debrief and lunch

What the committee wants from you is one concrete sentence about your own municipality: how many requests you handled last year, how many hours it took, and how many people work in your building. That is the testimony that changes votes.
